It’s easy to have time slip away as you navigate your day with students and classroom demands. At the end of the day, we too often look back to realize that more time was spent putting out fires than recognizing positive contributions and successes of students. Tangible rewards (i.e. tokens, tickets, etc.) are meant to be reminders for US just as much as they are for the kids. Use them as a strategy to connect with students with challenging behaviors. Set aside a ticket or token for each student with a goal of reaching out to them weekly. Allow the tickets to serve as an efficient reminder to shift the nature of your interaction back to the positive.
