Teach Self-regulation with “The Silly Walk”

Wednesday, February 06, 2019

Teaching and practicing mindfulness to students will have benefits that support your overall classroom instruction.  Students need to be aware of their actions and be able to regulate throughout the day through their different zones.  Many students need to exercise their executive functioning skills, as they don’t have the ability to easily switch “on” and “off”.  Share this short video with them and practice together the “silly walk”, designed to increase their awareness and skill in activating their different zones of regulation.  It’s a great brain break too as well as an opportunity to show off their unique style!
